Update 0.6.5–0.6.8: New toys, new risks, and a VAMPIRE rework
This batch of updates is all about movement, positioning, and resource gambles.
VAMPIRE got a full mechanical overhaul.
It’s no longer a one and done toggle you forget about. You can now turn the vampiric healing effect on and off by reusing the program, with each toggle costing 1 Flux. Once activated it persists across sectors and only resets on a new run, so deciding when to burn Flux to stay topped up (or turn it off to save resources) becomes a real strategic choice. The UI around it has been cleaned up with clearer messages and status indicators.
TELEPHONE is a new chaos engine.
It chain casts through every entity on the board, mutating half the time at each hop, then bounces back to you. You choose how it starts: 3 Healing (hold W), +3 Flux (E), or 3 Damage (Q/default). Along the way it can get stronger, weaker, flip between damage/heal/flux, or add a burn rider to damage. Shields can completely stop a damage hop. Visually, you can follow the beam and particles as it jumps and mutates. TELEPHONE sits in the advanced tier at 2 Flux to cast, with a higher shop price.
BACKDOOR adds a proper “set up the play” tool.
Use it once to drop a return point where you stand, use it again to snap back to that spot. Enemies can interact with it too, so throwing it down in the wrong place can backfire. There’s a pulsing magenta marker with portal effects on the grid so you always know where your anchor is, plus a custom shockwave and teleport VFX.
PHASE is the high-risk assassin move.
You slide through enemies in a straight line up to 5 tiles, dealing 1 damage to each target you pass through. The longer the phase, the more likely you are to get hurt when you stabilize, with chances ramping from 0% (1 tile) up to 70% (5 tiles) and damage scaling accordingly. If you finish off a phased-through enemy within 2 turns, you get +1 HP back, and each enemy you pass through permanently boosts your max charge by 5% (rounded up). It’s expensive and dangerous, but it can completely reshape a fight if you plan it well.
Across these updates, the total program count has gone up (now 30), and the overall focus is on giving you more ways to manipulate the board, squeeze value out of your resources, and deliberately opt into risky plays that can snowball if they pay off.
